Schismatic has started in the beginning of the nineties in Tarnow, Poland. Greg “Wieloryb” Smolonski has been looking for band members with Pawel Rzymek for the best part of two years while working on their music. First two track which was created at that time were Inheritance of Hate and Event. First drummer their cooperate with was Slawek Puka from blues band from Bochnia called Blood Money. In the begging of 1992, the first full line up was completed: Dariusz “Kudlaty” Bilos on vocals, Gerard Niemczyk on drums (Mordor, Holly Death, Gladiator) and Piotr Lekki on bass joined Greg and Pawel. First promo tape was recorded with four tracks: Event, Inheritance of Hate, Broken and Fear, pain, hate which was renamed later to Paths of death. Later in 1992 another promo has been recorded with additional tracks: Evolution Circle, The Ultimate Truth, Empire of Fear, Beyond Life and Spiritual Epilepsy. Summer was the time to make a debut on a stage which happened in Debica. Schismatic played with another Tarnow’s band Ziyo and some other local punk and rock bands. Later, Schismatic appear on their home soil with Vader and on Shark Attack festival. In September 1992 Tomasz Cehak joined the band and this line up continued with more live performances till the end of the 1992. In March 1993 band was ready to hit the studio to record their first official album which was called Circle of Evolution. The work needed to be done with a huge time pressure as the band has received just 30 hours of studio time. Summer 1993 has brought two changes: Pawel has left a band and Piotr Nalodka took his place. Also, Schismatic has moved to Krakow when work on new material has begun. While Circle of Evolution was pure and brutal death metal, a new music from Egregor has shown a substantial shift in style comparing to the debut album. Compositions still based on death metal riffs has brough much broader space for the experiments: unusual time signatures, clear jazzy and funk guitars have been blended with solid metal base and compliment with a new person responsible for vocals - Sebastian Napora of Necrobiosis. In 1994 band has hit the studio for the second time. It was Gamma Studio in Krakow and the tape was recorded for Croon Records. In 1995 Schismatic has started working on their third material which was never published as the band split up. 25 year later, in 2020 both albums Circle of Evolution and Egregor originally published on tapes has been reissued on CDs by Thrashing Madness. Audio material has been remastered by the old friend Piotr Lekki of Kwart Studio. Both albums contain lots extra content such as images which was never published before. Year 2020 bring another great piece of news: Schismatic is just about to hit the studio to record their brand-new music which is to be released in 2021. In terms of style it will be blend of both albums from the nineties – straight forward and brutal death metal with a fare dose of music experiments. Greg, Tomasz and Gerard have been joined by Sebastian Cichocki on guitar, the name of the vocalist will be revealed shortly. Watch this space for more news from Schismatic camp!
